Ensuring human health and protecting the environment are just some of UN priorities within The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
For Newtra Food too, there are two fundamental objectives, as well as closely interconnected, which can be achieved on the one hand by improving the nutrition intake of industrial foods; on the other, by reducing food loss along the supply chain.
According to NOVA system, ultra-processed foods are industrial foods with five or more ingredients, including: additives, hydrogenated fats, added sugars, and so on.
Low in nutrients but very high in calories, ultra-processed foods include sugary drinks, snacks, frozen foods and meat preparations, which are increasingly consumed to the detriment of the fresh ones. If we consider that only 7% of Italians reach the so-called “five a day” of fruit and vegetables recommended by the WHO, the issue gets worse.
Food loss is the decrease in the quantity or quality of food which, for various reasons, is lost along the agri-food chain, from the field to industrial processing.
While fruit and vegetable processing companies generate production waste that leads to disposal costs and a waste of environmental resources, food companies are looking for new market opportunities.
Our goal is to create synergy along the supply chain, transforming waste materials into innovative raw materials for the development of clean label products.
We carefully select our suppliers and only use production waste suitable to be treated as secondary raw material.
Our production process is zero waste as it guarantees the reuse of 100% of the gathered materials.
We promote a more sustainable agri-food supply chain, develop new technologies and design the food of the future.
